OUR STORY

 

My name is Abel, and I am the CEO & founder of Domepeace. Like most of you reading this, I am bald too. Being bald, as you know, is an "if you know, YOU KNOW" sort of thing.

I lost my hair entirely around age 25, and contrary to the dramatic narratives often pushed online, I found it a normal part of life. HOWEVER, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t shocked.

 

See, although young, I had so much hair that all the family agreed on one thing: Abel’s not going bald.

 

As the years went by, I was visited by the dreaded “hair on my pillow” scenario and plenty of hair on my hands while shampooing. But the day eventually came when I would look worse with the little I had left than without anything at all.

I remember sharing this with my family and friends (before taking the step) - and to my surprise, everyone seemed to be against my plans. “You still have hair left!” “You can rock it a lil’ longer!” and the classic “But your hair is sooo nice..” were a few of the comments.

I had to make a choice. Will I make others feel better about something I knew had to be addressed? Will I pretend to be something I’m not OR follow what nature requires of me?

Fast forward a few months… 

 

I grabbed a pair of clippers and buzzed it off. For me, the transition wasn't marked by pain or struggle but by acceptance. Since then, I’ve become an expert in the art of shaving my head. I know what to use, why, and when… as well as what not to use.

But my experience and passion does not stop there. I’ve done things… to simply know how they feel.

SMP (Scalp Micropigmentation) - I’ve done it. Ask me about it.

Removing it? - I’ve done it (yes, it hurts a lot). I’ll tell you all about it.

Sunburned my scalp? Been there and healed it.
